Forged steel body, high density tungsten nickel sole and Tuned Feel System to enhance performance and feel, Titleist 2010 AP1 Ironsare multi-material, dual cavity irons that take the design mission of "Advanced Performance You Can Feel" to new heights. The concept for the original Advanced Performance irons arose as a result of research that indicated serious golfers want performance with great feel, not performance at the expense of feel. The Titleist R&D team's advanced research group has been conducting extensive sound and vibration analysis aimed at reducing the harsh lower frequency vibration that causes poor feel in irons.

This insert has been specifically designed to improve the sound and feel of each new iron. For the new AP2, a softer, more solid feel is achieved. Other subtle refinements to the new AP2 have created performance gains in feel, sound, and turf interaction. The dual cavity design of the Titleist AP2 irons pushes weight to the perimeter for forgiveness. A central cross member featuring a soft elastomer cushion provides structural rigidity behind the impact area while also dampening face vibration for better overall feel. The metallic back cavity plate contributes to the AP2's great looks and bag appeal. For the irons, a softer, more solid feel is achieved. The integrated aluminum and soft elastomer Tuned Feel System in the back cavity improves sound and feel at impact. Titleist wanted to improve distance control and achieve a more consistent ball speed with the Titleist 712 AP2 irons. This was done by increasing the MOI by 7% without impacting workability or control. The forged carbon steel head is aided by a high-density tungsten weight, and creates increased playability.

Titleist introduced the "700" line for players with better skills. The "7" stands for the number of the irons, while the "10" or "12"stands for the year these irons were or will be born. Considering the similarities and differences between the 710 AP2 and 712 AP2 Irons, I think there is a need to make a comparision between them.

The main body of the Titleist 2010 AP2 Irons is forged from a soft carbon steel material, and has two cavities either side of a central bar. This design along with a slightly thinner face helps to push the weight more towards the perimeter of the clubhead for advanced playability without loss of shot shaping. If you have the muscles for a big smooth swing, then this is your mega iron.
