Titleist has used a forged carbon steel body with a high density tungsten weight design to increase the Moment of Inertia by 7% in the new AP2 irons. The sole widths of the 8, 9 and PW have been reduced to help the way the club moves through the turf at impact.
The new titleist ap2 irons have a square toe profile, something specifically requested by the brand’s Tour players. The small, progressive offset has also been introduced to improve playability across the broad spectrum of golfers attracted to the traditional look and feel of the new 712 ap2. The stock shaft for the new Titleist AP2 712 irons is Dynamic Gold and the stock grip is the Titleist Tour Velvet by Golf Pride. A broad spectrum of alternative grips and shafts are available through the Titleist custom fitting service.
At the same time, the new 712 ap2, which are designed for low handicappers, Titleist has significantly increased the club's moment of inertia (MOI) by re-positioning tungsten weight within the heads. The overall goal was to better apply the different materials used in the design.
They feature Titleist's most advanced multi-material designs which deliver superior distance control through increased moment-of-inertia (MOI) which also provides outstanding solid feel. In addition we have made appearance improvements to both sets. The New Titleist golf set is more forgiving and more distance control. It gives the AP2 player more consistent ball speed over a larger area of the face.
I chose the 712 AP2 irons, while my cousin currently owns three sets of Titleist irons the AP2, MB, and the CB's. He loves all three sets and will most likely buy all three new sets when they hit the market! He loves the satin finish and the new look.
